Grossmont 3-A League

Monte Vista 46, Mt. Miguel 40 (OT)--Monte Vista shut out Mt. Miguel in the overtime period, 6-0, to win a strange one at home. Monte Vista led 4-3 after the first quarter as the Monarch made only two of 17 shots and Mt. Miguel only one of 14. The Matadors also missed all three shots and turned over the ball three times in overtime. Aaron Elliott (19 points) and Jabari Williams (13) led Monte Vista (13-6, 3-0). Domingo Rivera (15) and Marcos Gallardo (10) led Mt. Miguel (12-7, 1-2). The Matadors’ were also shut out in an overtime loss Friday to Helix.

Grossmont 2-A League

Valhalla 104, West Hills 50--Mark Dillon scored 26 and Mike Nalu 25 to lead Valhalla (16-6, 3-0). Dillon had six three pointers, Nalu five. Neither played the fourth quarter. West Hills fell to 1-13, 0-3.

Nonleague

Grossmont 68, Helix 52--Jared Larson had 17 points and 13 rebounds and Jean Beauville 16 points and four blocked shots to give Grossmont (13-5) the victory over its rival. Lloyd Lake scored 17 for Helix (13-5).

Mira Mesa 66, Mission Bay 54--Mira Mesa trailed, 45-43, going into the fourth quarter, but rallied to outscore Mission Bay, 23-9. Mike Phillips (16 points) and Ryan Cunningham (14) paced the Marauders (10-8). Mission Bay fell to 3-13.

Girls’ Basketball

Grossmont 2-A League

Santana 57, El Cajon Valley 50--Top-ranked El Cajon Valley, which had been the only undefeated boys’ or girls’ team in the county, lost for the first time since last year’s semifinals. Stephanie Thompson led No. 8 Santana (15-4, 3-0) with 20 points and 14 rebounds. Sultan point guard Desiree Weinmann added 13 despite fouling out with six minutes left and Erin Pope had 12 rebounds. Heather Holm scored 21 for the Braves (18-1, 3-1). “We did a real good job on the boards,” Santana Coach Wade Vickery said. “We kept the from getting too many second shots.

Poway 56, Fallbrook 49--Stephanie Guerena scored 11 and Allison Brady 10 as No. 2 Poway (15-1, 7-0) held off No. 6 Fallbrook. Marcia Jeffries led Fallbrook (13-3, 5-2) with 14 points.
