Johnson Not Winning, but Is He Faster?
I’m confused. Please explain.
I’ve been reading in The Times about Ben Johnson returning to competition after a two-year suspension for using drugs. Last week, Ben ran his first race since being reinstated and finished second. At the Sunkist meet, he again finished second.
What confuses me is, I’m reading in The Times about how Ben Johnson has slowed down since he’s not taking drugs. That’s just not true. Ben Johnson ran the fastest 50-yard dash of his life (in Los Angeles).
The Times’ headline should have been, “Ben Faster Without Drugs,” instead of “Only Second Best.”
