PREP ROUNDUP : Spurt in the Second Half Helps Orange Beat Santa Ana Valley

Senior point guard Carlos Duran had 25 points and six assists to lead Orange to a 67-50 victory over Santa Ana Valley in a Century League boys’ basketball game Saturday at Orange.

Orange (10-8, 3-3) built a 30-22 halftime lead, but Santa Ana Valley opened the third quarter with a 10-2 run to close to 32-30. Orange responded with a 10-0 run to make it 42-30, then pulled away in the fourth quarter.

George Alvarado had 20 points for Santa Ana Valley (0-6 in league).

In Sunset League boys’ basketball:

Ocean View 65, Fountain Valley 44--Jim Harris had 16 points and eight assists for host Ocean View (12-8, 6-2). Ryan Martin added 13 points and Marcel TenBerge had 12 points and 11 rebounds for Ocean View, which built a 24-13 halftime lead and stretched it to 45-22 after three quarters.

In Sunset League girls’ basketball:

Fountain Valley 55, Ocean View 54--Michelle Kravik rebounded and scored at the buzzer for host Fountain Valley (14-8, 6-2). Ocean View is 13-9 and 4-4.

In nonleague girls’ basketball:

Woodbridge 69, Mission Viejo 40--Deanna Harry had 29 points and 10 rebounds for Woodbridge (16-4).

In Angelus League boys’ soccer:

Mater Dei 5, Servite 0--Steve Mastropaolo scored twice for host Mater Dei (14-4-1, 3-1-1). Tom Evans (three saves) and Bill Walker (five) got the shutout.

In South Coast League boys’ soccer:

Capistrano Valley 3, Dana Hills 2--Jeff Rynders scored the winning goal midway through the second half for host Capistrano Valley (9-4-4, 5-0-1). Dana Hills is 1-6-0 in league.

In South Coast League girls’ soccer:

El Toro 3, Dana Hills 0--Shawn Viloria, Shannon DeAvila and Shawna Berke each scored for visiting El Toro (22-0-2, 5-0-2). Dana Hills is 10-5-4, 3-2-2.
