School: Cypress High Sport: Basketball Position: Center Class: Junior

Nava’s athletic skills have made her one of Cypress’ biggest contributors to the team in its quest for the Empire League title. An all-league volleyball player who also high jumps and runs hurdles for the track team, Nava is the free safety in the Centurions’ zone press and leads the team in steals. She also leads Cypress in rebounds (12 per game) and blocked shots (four). Last week, Nava had 18 points, 15 rebounds, four blocked shots and three steals in a 44-35 victory over Loara. She also helped limit Tracy Titus, the county’s leading scorer, to 11 points, almost 22 points below her average. Nava, who is the Centurions’ second-leading scorer (18.1), had 26 points, 14 rebounds, four blocks and two steals in a 55-37 victory over El Dorado. The two victories kept Cypress (16-6, 6-1) in first place, a half-game ahead of Esperanza.

Other top performers:

Olivia DiCamilli, who scored 30 points for Costa Mesa in a 59-56 loss to second-ranked Estancia and 27 points in a 60-48 victory over Trabuco Hills.

Tracy Heiser, who scored 23 points for El Toro in a 61-37 victory over Dana Hills and had 20 points, nine assists and six steals in a 63-33 victory over Mission Viejo.
