Firefighters Aid Assault Victim, Seize Suspect, 14
Four firefighters returning from a blaze in East Los Angeles came to the aid of a victim of a baseball bat-assault Monday and blocked the escape of a 14-year-old assailant who rammed their fire truck with a car and then attacked the engine crew, authorities said.
Members of County Fire Engine Co. 3 summoned sheriff’s deputies and held the bat-swinging youth until help arrived. None of the firefighters was injured. The victim of the attack ran away.
Deputies arrested the 14-year-old, whose name was not disclosed because of his age, on suspicion of assault with a deadly weapon.
