Sanders Agrees to Play Baseball Until August

Deion Sanders, an outfielder who also plays football with the Atlanta Falcons, agreed to a one-year, $650,000 baseball contract with the Atlanta Braves’ farm team at Richmond, Va., of the triple-A International League.

“Richmond is not, like, my favorite place, but I can go there and be happy,” Sanders said. The contract calls for Sanders to play baseball through July 31, then leave to rejoin the Falcons for the 1991 NFL season, He hit .158 for the New York Yankees in 133 at-bats last season and was released after he left the team to join the Falcons.

Brave shortstop Andres Thomas agreed to a one-year contract. Thomas and the Braves settled at $650,000, a $100,000 raise. He can earn an additional $125,000 in performance bonuses.
