SIMI VALLEY : Man Offers Reward in Wife’s Slaying
A Simi Valley man whose wife was slain last month is offering a $5,000 reward for information leading to the arrest and conviction of her killer.
Herbert Brinkley said he hopes the reward money will help police in their investigation into the Jan. 15 death of his wife, Dorothy Mae Brinkley. The 44-year-old legal secretary was found slumped in the front seat of her car, which was parked in front of a local bank.
Officials with the Ventura County coroner’s office said the victim died of both blunt and sharp injuries to her head and neck.
“I just want police to find who did it because this crime should not go unpunished,” Herbert Brinkley, 54, said.
So far, police have been unable to come up with a motive or a suspect. Police have not disclosed the type of weapon used in the killing, nor have they established whether Dorothy Mae Brinkley was murdered in the parking lot of Valley Federal Savings & Loan Assn., 2358 Tapo St., or brought there afterward.
However, authorities believe that Dorothy Mae Brinkley was murdered between midnight and the early morning hours of Jan. 15.
Lt. Robert Klamser of the Simi Valley Police Department said he did not know if Herbert Brinkley’s offer of a reward would help the investigation.
