COLLISION ON THE RUNWAY

A USAir Boeing 737 jetliner making a landing crashed into a departing SkyWest commuter plane at Los Angeles International Airport Friday night. The exact point where the collision occurred was not known.

Witnesses said the jetliner skidded off a runway, slammed into a vacated fire station beside a taxiway and burst into flames. Debris from the commuter plane was found under the jetliner.
