The Sidelines : Taylor Arrested in Cab Incident

New York Giants linebacker Lawrence Taylor was arrested for allegedly hitting a car with a metal pipe after a traffic accident, police said today.

Taylor, 31, was charged with misdemeanor criminal property damage and released on $50 bail, police spokeswoman Jean Motoyama said.

Taylor was involved in an altercation after his rental car collided with a taxicab near Honolulu Airport at 9:45 p.m. Sunday, a few hours after he played for the NFC squad in the Pro Bowl, Motoyama said.

The cabdriver got out of his car and hit Taylor’s car with a metal pipe, police said. Taylor got out of his car, took the pipe from the man and hit the rear end of the cab, Motoyama said. She said neither driver was injured.

The cabdriver, Hoa Van Nguyen, was charged with misdemeanor terroristic threatening and criminal property damage. He was released after posting $50 bail.
