Pasadena : Medi-Ride Contract OKd

Medi-Ride, the city’s Dial-A-Ride provider, will stay in business until April 27, with a $23,840 increase in its contract approved Tuesday by the Board of Directors.

The Glendale company will be paid $33.26 hourly for service, up from the $24.75 it now receives under a $645,000 annual contract.

The firm on Dec. 18 notified the city that it would end service to Pasadena within 60 days. After the board turned down a contract increase last year, Medi-Ride, which has operated in Pasadena since 1989, decided to pull out because it was losing money, city staff said.

The contract extension approved by the board will provide for continued Dial-A-Ride service until the city finds another company.
