The American Red Cross suggests you keep these items on hand in case of an earthquake.
* One gallon of water for every person in the household.
* A first-aid kit.
* A week’s supply of needed medications.
* A fire extinguisher.
* Flashlight and batteries.
* An escape ladder for all floors above ground level.
* A radio and batteries.
* Canned or precooked food.
* Blankets.
* Sanitation supplies.
* Trash bags.
* Gloves and heavy-soled shoes.
* Toothpaste and brush.
* Feminine hygiene items.
* A sharp knife.
* Paper towels.
* Matches in a waterproof container.
* A hose.
* A hibachi or other means of cooking without using the stove.
* An ax and pliers.
* Crescent wrench to turn off gas.
