AH, FAME: Five years ago, The Times called Dean Koontz, the novelist from Orange, “possibly the least-known best-selling author in America.” . . . He has since written six more books, including yet another best-seller, “Cold Fire.” That boosts his total to 55 books. Still, his fame seems not to have spread too far. This week’s Newsweek calls Koontz “undoubtedly the least-known best-selling author in America.”
