Defending national champion Nevada Las Vegas has been given until May 1 to respond to an NCAA letter of inquiry alleging 29 violations in the school’s basketball program.

The university requested and was granted an extension to the 60-day NCAA timetable to respond to the 43-page letter it received Dec. 19.

The NCAA allegations stemmed from the recruitment of former New York City prep star Lloyd Daniels, who never played for the Runnin’ Rebels after being arrested at a North Las Vegas crack house.
