Porter Ranch and Water

Share

On Tuesday, Jan. 29, I attended a public hearing before the city Department of Planning--an opportunity for the public to address concerns for the proposed Chatsworth-Porter Ranch District Plan.

Over 300 people were there. Several brought up salient points, lack of planning for the current water shortage coming up again and again. The Department of Planning, however, has evidently decided not to consider it, or any other reasonable comment brought up at this hearing.

Responding to Councilman Hal Bernson’s complaint that the environmental impact report prepared for the District Plan does not use current traffic data, Principal City Planner Robert H. Sutton has called for a recalculation of the traffic study, using more recent statistics.

Why not also recalculate the environmental study--with updated information on water resources?

I am outraged at this flagrant disregard of genuine public concern. Some 300 people attend a public hearing, yet only the councilman’s concerns are heard.
