Pay TV Households Decrease: The number of cable TV households subscribing to pay channels continued to decline in the fourth quarter of 1990, according to A. C. Nielsen Co. Pay TV households shrunk 2.7% to 26.6 million, Nielsen reported, slipping to its lowest level in two years. On an annual basis, pay TV households shrunk 2.8% from 27.1 million. In Los Angeles, however, pay TV households increased 7% to 1.5 million between 1989 and 1990.
