Search Continues in Simi Valley Slaying

Share

Police continued to search Saturday for a suspect and motive in the slaying of a Simi Valley man found beaten to death in an industrial park office.

Jonathan Duxbury, 38, was found shortly after 7 a.m. Friday on the floor of Rain Master Irrigation Systems Inc. in the 4600 block of East Industrial Street.

“With a crime of this seriousness they want to do as much as they can as soon as possible,” Lt. Neal Rein of the Simi Valley Police Department said of the investigators who worked much of the day Saturday. “The longer they wait, the more distant the trail gets.”

Duxbury died from head injuries inflicted by a blunt instrument, according to an autopsy by the Ventura County coroner’s office.

Duxbury is survived by his wife, Terry, and two children, a son about age 9 and a daughter about 3, according to a neighbor, Thomas Sullivan. Both Jonathan and Terry Duxbury were involved in neighborhood council activities, Sullivan said.

“I don’t know what happened or why it happened,” Sullivan said. “He’d be one of the last people on earth you’d expect that to happen to.”

Duxbury’s slaying is the third this year in Simi Valley, which reported only one homicide in 1990.
