THOUSAND OAKS : Teen-Ager Stabbed in Fight at Party

Share

A 17-year-old Thousand Oaks boy was hospitalized in serious condition Sunday after being stabbed during a fight at a teen-age party that got out of hand, authorities said.

Ventura County Sheriff Lt. Bill Montijo said a fight erupted about 10:50 p.m. Saturday in the 2700 block of Wasatch Court when party-goers tried to turn away a group of intruders. He said the victim was trying to restore order when an unidentified party crasher stabbed him in the abdomen.

The party’s host, who requested anonymity for fear of reprisal, said Sunday that he had invited 15 to 20 guests, but 60 to 80 people showed up. He said he realized about 10:30 p.m. that the party was too raucous and ordered the interlopers to leave. The fight and the stabbing occurred in the street in front of his house, he said.

The victim, whose name was not released, was listed in serious condition Sunday in an intensive care unit of Westlake Medical Center in Westlake Village, a hospital spokeswoman said.

Montijo said the incident did not appear to be gang-related.
