Two Monterey Park men suspected of shooting a motorist in a highway confrontation led the California Highway Patrol on a high-speed, long-distance freeway chase Friday from Kern County to downtown Los Angeles, where they were stopped and arrested, authorities said.

Hong Quang Ly, 20, and Duc Tan Ngoyen, 23, were booked by the Kern County Sheriff’s Department for investigation of attempted murder in the wounding of Jeremey Snyder, 18, of Phoenix, on Interstate 5 in the San Joaquin Valley.

Snyder told deputies he was shot when he argued with occupants of another car that had been following him too close. After the shooting, the assailants’ auto sped on, reaching speeds of 90 m.p.h. with officers in pursuit during a 50-minute chase over the Ridge Route and through the San Fernando Valley, authorities said.
