Woman, 92, Hit, Killed Crossing the Street
A 92-year-old Canoga Park woman was killed after she was struck by a car while crossing a street in Northridge, Los Angeles police said Sunday.
Sung Chang was crossing Oakdale Avenue in the middle of the block, near Roscoe Boulevard, at 6 p.m. Saturday when she was hit by a southbound car driven by Maurice Johnson, 64, of Highland Park. Witnesses told police that Johnson was driving between 15 and 20 m.p.h. in the 25-m.p.h. zone.
Chang was taken to Northridge Hospital Medical Center, where she was pronounced dead at 7:47 p.m. Johnson was not cited in the accident, Officer Frank Zdroy said.
