Mayfield Day in L.A.: This is Curtis Mayfield Day in the city of Los Angeles, honoring the veteran soul singer/composer who was paralyzed from the neck down in a freak accident last fall. There will be a ceremony at noon outside the Ivar Theater in Hollywood, and at 8 tonight the Inner City Cultural Center is to present a tribute at the Ivar featuring 17 Mayfield songs performed by Artists for a New Day, a coalition of local artists.
