Share

A Simi Valley man is being held on $50,000 bail on suspicion of stealing $130,125 worth of electronic equipment from Amplica Inc. in Newbury Park.

Dennis James Hamner, 32, of Simi Valley was arrested at his home Monday by officers from the Ventura County Sheriff’s Department and Simi Valley police. A search warrant revealed evidence of the equipment being sold to an electronics supplier in Los Angeles, who sold it to a dealer in the San Francisco Bay Area, said Sheriff’s Sgt. Terry Hughes.

The theft, which Hughes said occurred Feb. 1, was initially investigated by GAB Services, a Ventura firm hired by Amplica’s insurance company.

A subsequent investigation by Sheriff’s Detective Mike Powers led to the recovery of the equipment in the San Francisco area, Hughes said.

Hamner was booked into the County Jail on one felony count of grand theft of personal property over $100,000, possession of stolen property and possession of cocaine.
