PREP ROUNDUP : Povirk’s 27 Kills Lead Irvine Past Ocean View
Kurt Povirk had 27 kills as Irvine survived Ocean View’s rally to win a nonleague high school volleyball match Friday at Irvine.
Irvine won the first two games, 15-6, 15-3, then Ocean View came back, 9-15, 9-15, but Irvine won the final game, 15-11. Brian Trout added 10 kills and 11 blocks for Irvine.
In other nonleague matches:
Laguna Hills 3, Bolsa Grande 0--Eric Davis had seven kills and Kirk Brown six for host Laguna Hills (2-0) in a 15-5, 15-1, 15-9 sweep.
Esperanza 3, Lakewood 0--Jason Galeener had 10 kills for host Esperanza (2-0) as the Aztecs swept, 15-8, 15-6, 15-12.
Foothill 3, Villa Park 0--Damian Kiritschenko had 10 kills and Matt Gerard added eight for host Foothill (1-1) in a 15-12, 15-12, 15-9 victory. Villa Park is 0-1.
