CASITAS SPRINGS : Boy Injured in Fire Shows Improvement

Share

A 19-month-old boy critically injured late Friday in a Casitas Springs mobile-home fire showed signs of improvement Sunday night, but his father’s health worsened, hospital officials said.

Jerome Haberstich was listed in serious condition at Childrens Hospital in Los Angeles as a result of smoke inhalation and burns to his face and hand suffered during the 10 p.m. fire in Casitas Mobile Home Park on Nye Road.

His father, Barry Haberstich, was admitted to Ventura County Medical Center in serious condition from smoke inhalation. A nursing supervisor said Haberstich, also known as Barry Mann, was in critical condition on a respirator Sunday because his lungs had swollen.
