COLLEGE ROUNDUP : Late Rally Gives Titans Victory Over USC

Cal State Fullerton rallied for two runs in the eighth inning and went on to defeat USC, 5-4, in a nonconference college baseball game Tuesday night at Amerige Park in Fullerton.

Tevor Rush started the winning rally with a single in the eighth.

He went to third on a single by Frank Herman and scored on a single by Steve Sisco, which tied it, 4-4. Herman was forced out, but Sisco scored on a fielding error by Trojan shortstop Billy Morris.

Dan Naulty worked a perfect ninth, striking out two for his first save for Fullerton (8-11). James Popoff (3-2) pitched the first eight innings for the victory.

Mike Berry had an RBI triple and Matt Hattabaugh added a run-scoring groundout in the second and Hattabaugh added another run-scoring groundout in the seventh for Fullerton.

Dan Hubbs (3-1) took the loss for USC (17-7-1).

In other nonconference baseball:

Chapman 5, The Master’s 4--Doug Yates hit a two-run home run in the eighth to break a 2-2 tie for Chapman (7-12) at Hart Park in Orange. It was Yates’ sixth home run and second in two days. The Panthers added another run in the eighth on an RBI groundout by James Henderson.

Robert Parga (1-0) pitched the final eight innings for the victory.

Loyola Marymount 8, UC Irvine 2--Mark Tillman went three for five and scored three times for Loyola Marymount (13-7). Pete Golaszewski was three for four for Irvine (9-10).
