Search Launched for Van Nuys Pilot, Cargo Plane
A cargo plane piloted by a Van Nuys man failed to return to Burbank Airport as scheduled and a search was begun Friday, a Civil Air Patrol spokesman said.
Pilot David Neuzil, an employee of Wings Express of Van Nuys, left Phoenix at 8 p.m. Thursday and was due in Burbank at 11 p.m., Civil Air Patrol spokesman Hank Covington said.
The Piper Lance PA-32 aircraft he was flying was the subject of the search by six CAP planes, a Riverside County Sheriff’s Department plane and a Wings Express helicopter.
The search will continue today, Covington said.
Neuzil, who is in his 20s, is a seven-month employee of Wings Express with more than 2,000 hours of flying time, Wings Express President Gary Farrell said. He was carrying documents and film from Phoenix.
