Two people were listed in good condition Friday after their car went out of control on Interstate 805 and was dragged about 100 yards beneath a tractor-trailer rig, the California Highway Patrol reported.

The accident, which occurred at 12:30 p.m. on the freeway’s northbound lanes just south of the Mira Mesa Boulevard exit, caused traffic to back up for 2 miles and closed off three of the freeway’s four lanes, according to the CHP.

The victims were identified as Faroeunj Reth, 21, and Pram Pov, 33, both of the San Fernando Valley community of Van Nuys. Reth said she lost control of her car when another vehicle cut in front of her, CHP Officer Dan Ficken said.

When authorities arrived at the scene, they found the car lodged under the big rig with Reth and Pov trapped inside. Firefighters freed them from the wreckage. They were taken to Scripps La Jolla Hospital.
