Jim Doyle scored on a sacrifice fly to give Diamond Bar a 5-4 victory over Servite for the championship of the Loara Baseball Tournament Saturday night at La Palma Park.

With one out in the top of the 10th inning, Doyle walked, stole second and third, and scored on Andy Smith’s sacrifice fly.

In the bottom of the 10th, Servite’s Matt Muller just missed hitting a two-run home run; the ball was caught at the center-field wall. The Friars are 4-1.

The loss spoiled good pitching performances by starter Adam Anderson and reliever Dan Stoff.

Anderson, pitching his first game since Servite finished its basketball season Thursday night, struck out nine and held Diamond Bar (5-0) to one run on six hits.

“Adam gave us five innings, but he didn’t have the stamina,” Servite Coach Mike McNary said. “He did a great job though.”

Steve Sandoval moved from third base to the pitcher’s mound in the top of the sixth with Servite leading, 3-1. Sandoval hit Karl Thompson, who scored from first base on Jared Janke’s double to right field.

Sandoval then gave up a single and a walk to load the bases before being relieved by Stoff. Andy Smith’s single off Stoff scored Danny Cooper and Jim Doyle to give the Brahmas a 4-3 lead.
