Los Angeles police were searching Wednesday for the driver of a big rig that crushed a motorcyclist beneath its wheels Tuesday night in Mission Hills.

The 25-year-old motorcyclist, whose name was not released pending notification of relatives, died about 30 minutes after the 9:30 p.m. crash on Sepulveda Boulevard near the Simi Valley Freeway, Officer Frank Zdroy said.

Witnesses told police that the driver of the truck did not stop after the accident.

Zdroy said the motorcyclist, who was wearing a helmet, was riding south on Sepulveda Boulevard when he was caught beneath the rear wheels of the truck, which was making a left turn onto the freeway.
