Pomona : Focus on Family Sells Land

Focus on the Family, a Pomona-based Christian publishing and counseling organization that is planning to move to Colorado Springs, has agreed to sell its nine-acre Pomona headquarters to a developer.

Terms of the sale to Cordova Chase Corp. in the City of Industry were not disclosed. The transaction includes two buildings totaling 185,000 square feet and gives Cordova Chase the option to buy an additional six acres of vacant land. Paul Hetrick, a spokesman for Focus on the Family, said the organization, which employs 750, plans to leave Pomona by October and will rent temporary space in Colorado Springs during the construction of permanent facilities. Founded by psychologist James C. Dobson to promote Christian family values, Focus on the Family produces radio broadcasts heard throughout the world, distributes a monthly magazine to 1.8-million homes and provides other media and counseling services.
