5 Shots From Auto Wound Man Lying in Bed

Gunfire from a passing vehicle slammed into a West Valinda area home, wounding a man in the head as he lay in bed, authorities said.

The victim, Michael Cuni, 18, was in bed in a front bedroom of a home in the 1000 block of Orange Avenue in the unincorporated West Valinda area near La Puente when the attack occurred about 10:35 p.m. Tuesday, Sheriff’s Deputy George Ducoulombier said. He said at least five shots were fired.

Cuni was wounded in the head and was in extremely critical condition at Queen of the Valley Hospital in West Covina. Detectives had not established a motive for the shooting and had not determined whether the attack was gang-related, Ducoulombier said.
