PREP BASEBALL ROUNDUP : Estancia’s Wilson Faces 21 Batters in No-Hitter

Kyle Wilson pitched no-hitter as Estancia defeated Century, 5-0, in a Pacific Coast League baseball game Thursday at Estancia High School.

Wilson (1-1), a junior right-hander, struck out six and would have had a perfect game except for an infielder’s error. However, Wilson picked off that player and faced the minimum 21 batters.

Colby French had two hits, a run batted in and scored a run, and Ruben Mora had a hit, an RBI and scored two runs for Estancia (4-3, 2-0 in league).

In the Empire League:

Esperanza 7, Loara 2--Shade Summers of Esperanza allowed two hits in six innings. Erickson Dumaual went three for four with two RBIs and two stolen bases and David Newhan singled, doubled, had three RBIs, stole two bases and scored two runs for Esperanza (8-1, 2-1).

El Dorado 3, Los Alamitos 0--Brian Lloyd hit a two-run triple in the fourth inning for El Dorado (6-2, 2-0).

Katella 9, Cypress 0--Chris Reed (3-1) pitched a four-hitter for Katella (7-3, 3-0) at Boysen Park.

In the Freeway League:

Sunny Hills 8, Troy 5--Chris Looney had two hits, including a two-run home run in the fifth, and Rick Orr (1-1) pitched six innings and struck out seven for Sunny Hills (5-3, 2-0).

In the Garden Grove League:

La Quinta 1, Pacifica 0--John Miali pitched four innings allowing two hits and Brett Osborn pitched the final three and didn’t allow a hit for La Quinta (9-2, 2-0).

Garden Grove 6, Santiago 4--Brandon Hoalton (1-1) went the distance and struck out nine and sophomore first baseman Gary Henson went three for three, including a bases-empty home run, for visiting Garden Grove (1-3, 1-1).

Kennedy 4, Rancho Alamitos 3--Scott Jones scored on an error for visiting Kennedy to break a 3-3 tie in the sixth.

Los Amigos 9, Bolsa Grande 7--Ethan Siddall had three hits and drove in a run for visiting Los Amigos (4-3, 1-0).

In the Orange League:

Anaheim 5, Western 4--Jeff Kafoury had a two-run triple and David Geary added a run-scoring triple in the third for Anaheim (4-5, 1-1).

Magnolia 9, Valencia 3--Jesse Caron (2-1) pitched a six-hitter with seven strikeouts for Magnolia (2-5, 1-1).

In the South Coast League:

Dana Hills 3, Mission Viejo 0--Jon Spaulding (4-0) pitched a two-hitter and had seven strikeouts for visiting Dana Hills (6-2, 1-0). Scott Holty had two hits and scored a run for Dana Hills.

El Toro 3, Irvine 2--Jason Santoro had a hit and two RBIs for El Toro (5-2, 1-0).

In the Sea View League:

Newport Harbor 4, Saddleback 2--Greg Nielsen (2-1) pitched a two-hitter for host Newport Harbor. Chris Carden had two-run single in the sixth for Newport Harbor (5-4, 3-0).

Tustin 9, Corona del Mar 1--The Tillers (6-2, 3-0 in league) got five innings of no-hit ball from right-hander Bill Courtney (3-0) for the victory at Corona del Mar (1-1-1 in league).
