Commerce : Bonds OKd to Pay for Work on ‘Mixmaster’ Intersection
The Commerce City Council on Tuesday authorized its Redevelopment Agency to issue $21 million in bonds to raise money to pay for road improvements at one of the city’s key and frequently congested intersections.
Engineers are working on designs to improve the “mixmaster” intersection, where Atlantic Boulevard, Eastern Avenue, Triggs Street, the Santa Ana Freeway and the Union Pacific Railroad tracks converge, said Justine McCarthy, deputy executive director of redevelopment.
Improvements could include a bridge and the addition of new lanes at the intersection, McCarthy said. Officials hope work on the project will begin in the next two years.
