South Pasadena : Veteran City Clerk to Retire
City Clerk Ruby W. Kerr will retire May 30 after 15 years on the job.
The City Council on Wednesday delayed discussions on filling the vacancy until April 17. Kerr’s term runs until 1992. City Manager John Bernardi said the council can appoint a replacement or call a special election.
Bernardi said he was surprised and disappointed by Kerr’s announcement. He praised her efficiency, saying: “Everything ran so perfect.”
Kerr, 68, has lived in South Pasadena since 1956. She said she is leaving to devote her energy to planning the September wedding of her daughter Bonnie.
