Authorities continued to search Saturday for a man suspected of killing two men and wounding another at an El Monte bar late Friday.

El Monte police said the two who were killed were shot at close range with a shotgun inside the Flamingo Bar, in the 4300 block of Peck Road, by a man who also shot and wounded a security guard before fleeing.

The victims, who were not identified pending notification of relatives, were pronounced dead at the scene, Detective Gary Walker said. The unidentified security guard was taken to Arcadia Methodist Hospital. His wounds were not believed to be life-threatening, Walker said.

Walker said that investigators have not ruled out robbery as a motive, adding that witnesses gave conflicting reports about what triggered the incident. Investigators said the victims, who were not acquainted, were standing next to each other when the shootings occurred.
