BASEBALL : DAILY REPORT : DODGERS : Hershiser Is Pleased by Workout
Orel Hershiser, buoyed by a good workout, said Tuesday that he could be facing hitters as soon as next week. That would put him on schedule to return to the Dodgers in early May, although Hershiser is no longer observing a schedule.
His optimism was fueled by his performance early Tuesday afternoon, when he threw 80 pitches off a mound at regulation distance. It was his first strong workout since he suffered a sore arm March 15.
“Yeah, I admit I feel good,” Hershiser said. “I think next week could be a possibility for me with hitters.”
