Quarter horse racing at Los Alamitos has been an up-and-down affair during the last five years, at least in terms of attendance and amount of money wagered. During that period, attendance has increased by as much as 23% (1986 to 1987) and declined by as much as 48% (1989 to ‘90). Wagering has undergone a 21% increase and a 37% decline. The days of racing, attendance and amount wagered all reached five-year lows in 1990. Here are the trends:
