A motorcyclist was killed Tuesday morning when he swerved to avoid hitting a city school bus and ran into a cement planter in the 3700 block of Clairemont Drive, the county medical examiner’s office said.
Michael Alan Laudermilt, 40, of San Diego, was taken to Scripps Memorial Hospital in La Jolla, where he died at 7:44 a.m., said medical examiner investigator Max Murphy. None of the four special education students on the bus en route to Clairemont High School was injured, the California Highway Patrol said.
Laudermilt was traveling south on Clairemont Drive about 7:05 a.m. and swerved to miss the northbound school bus, which was making a left turn on Ute Drive, Murphy said. It is not known how fast Laudermilt was traveling, he said.
