Shots that rang out across a field near her home left a Ramona woman wounded in the hip Tuesday night, the Sheriff’s Department reported.

Bonnie Atkinson, who lives on Lilac Road in Ramona, called the department at 6:48 p.m. to report that she had been shot. She said shots were continuing to land in her yard, coming from across a field next to a dump, but said she could see no one. A second caller said shots also landed in his yard, on Pomo Road.

Atkinson was listed in good condition at Palomar Medical Center Tuesday night.

The incident was being investigated as an assault with a deadly weapon.
