Expansion of View Panel’s Powers

Share

The Rancho Palos Verdes City Council on Tuesday introduced a measure that would expand the powers of the city’s View Restoration Committee.

If approved in a final vote by the council, the measure would designate the seven-member panel as a planning commission for limited purposes, giving it the authority to hold public hearings over any suggested revisions to view restoration codes.

The View Restoration Committee already holds the exclusive power to grant or deny view restoration permit applications.

Currently, the Planning Commission must review all proposed amendments to development codes, including those related to view restoration, even though it has no power in view restoration matters. The proposal relieves the commission of any responsibility in view restoration law.

At Tuesday’s meeting, the council appointed Norm Eastwood to the committee and selected two new alternates, William Dudman and Al Edgerton.
