Two people were killed in separate traffic accidents in Orange County on Saturday, one in Mission Viejo and another in Santa Ana.

Ruth V. Adams, 72, of Mission Viejo, was killed about 5:30 p.m. when her car went out of control on Marguerite Parkway in Mission Viejo, between La Paz and Jeronimo roads, and struck a tree in the center divider.

No other vehicles were involved and the woman was alone in her car. She was pronounced dead at the scene.

Coroner’s officials said they were investigating whether medical problems may have led to her losing control of the car.

In the Santa Ana accident, one man was killed and another seriously injured in a two-car collision early Saturday morning, police said.

Santa Ana resident Jose Delgado, 37, was pronounced dead at the scene after the vehicle in which he was a passenger collided with another car at the intersection of 17th and Bristol streets, Officer Hector Mariani said.

The driver of the car in which Delgado was riding, Apolinar Castorela, 31, of Santa Ana, was in critical condition at UCI Medical Center in Orange, authorities said.

Mariani said three men in the second vehicle suffered only minor injuries, despite major damage to their car. No arrests were made.
