Libertarian Enters Race for Roos’ Assembly Seat

Share

The number of candidates in the special election for Los Angeles’ 46th State Assembly District seat has risen to 15 with the entry of Michael Everling, 36, regional chairman of the Libertarian Party.

Everling, a title company officer who has lived in the district since 1980, joins 12 Democrats, one Republican and a Peace and Freedom candidate in the June 4 primary for the seat left vacant by the resignation of Assemblyman Mike Roos.

Unless a candidate wins more than 50% of the vote in the primary, the leading Democratic vote-getter will face Everling, Republican Jeffrey Church and Peace and Freedom candidate Elizabeth Nakano in a July 30 runoff.

Roos, a Democrat, quit the Assembly to head an effort to improve the quality of education in the schools.
