Share

Operation Brainstorm, a new Ojai peace group, plans to show a film shot in Iraq during the Persian Gulf War, followed by a panel discussion today.

Billed as a town meeting on Iraqi civilian casualties and U.S. censorship, the 7 p.m. event will be at World University, 107 N. Ventura St. in Ojai.

Panelists include an Iraqi Kurd who is a longtime Santa Barbara County resident but who hopes to remain anonymous because of his work with the Kurdish resistance movement, said organizer Clive Leeman, Moorpark College English teacher.

Other speakers are Thousand Oaks businessman Waleed Masry, Mindy Lorenz of the Green Party and KVEN talk-show host Phil Hendrie.

Organizers plan to show a 27-minute videotape, “Nowhere to Hide,” that was filmed in Iraq from Feb. 2-7 by independent cameraman Jon Alpert and former U.S. Atty. Gen. Ramsey Clark, on assignment for NBC’s “Nightly News” and “Today” shows. However, it was never aired.
