4th Suspect in Shootout Identified
Sheriff’s detectives have identified and obtained an arrest warrant for a fourth suspect in a January shootout with undercover law enforcement officers that left one man dead and a Redondo Beach police officer wounded.
Gary Tyrone Flowers, 26, is being sought on suspicion of murder and attempted murder in the gun battle, which occurred in a parking lot at Alpine Village, said Sheriff’s Deputy Rich Erickson of the department’s information bureau.
Erickson said Flowers is also being sought in connection with the Athens-area shooting death of Joetta Cummings, 26, in February. A 28-year-old man, Willie Denmon, was wounded in that attack.
In the exchange with undercover officers, suspected drug dealer Dlando Moses, 21, of Torrance, was shot to death. Two other suspects were wounded and arrested, Erickson said. Information on the status of their cases was unavailable.
Erickson said Flowers is considered “armed and extremely dangerous” and asked that anyone with information on Flowers’ whereabouts call the Sheriff’s Homicide Bureau at 974-4341.
