The first unified team of North and South Korea defeated the United States, 3-0, in the championship round of the World Table Tennis Championships at Chiba, Japan.
The United States reached the round of 16 by edging Demark, 3-2, in a playoff before losing to Korea.
The Korean women, also united for the first time since the Korean peninsula was divided in 1945, beat Hungary, 2-1, to advance to the final.
In today’s women’s final, Korea will face China, seeking its ninth consecutive title. China advanced with a 3-0 victory over France.
