BASEBALL : DAILY REPORT : AROUND THE MAJOR LEAGUES : Hernandez Signs Minor League Deal

Left-handed reliever Guillermo Hernandez, one-time Cy Young winner and American League most valuable player, signed a triple-A contract with the Toronto Blue Jays.
Hernandez, 36, who last pitched in the majors in 1989 with the Detroit Tigers, will report to the Syracuse Chiefs of the International League.
During spring training, Hernandez was an unsigned, nonroster player with the Philadelphia Phillies. His major league record is 70-63 with 147 saves.
