A man sought for three months as a suspect in a Van Nuys killing and sexual assault was arrested in a pool hall in Houston after an informant turned him in, Los Angeles police said Thursday.

Hung Van Vo, 35, was being held without bail at the Harris County Jail awaiting extradition on charges of murder, rape and robbery, Los Angeles police Detective James Vojtecky said.

Vo was arrested Wednesday without incident after an informant called Houston police and revealed his whereabouts, Vojtecky said.

Vo is suspected of the Jan. 29 slaying of Hoa Van Nguyen, 27, and the sexual assault and robbery of a 19-year old woman who was staying in Nguyen’s apartment on Calvert Street near Van Nuys Boulevard, Vojtecky said.

Vo lived in the same complex as the victims and became upset when the woman spurned his advances, Vojtecky said.

The suspect burst into Nguyen’s apartment, shot him and raped and robbed the woman, investigators said.

Vojtecky said Vo also shot the woman twice and left the wounded victim for dead.

Vo escaped in a stolen vehicle, police said.
