Corona del Mar’s familial touch helped give the Sea Kings their third consecutive Sea View League baseball title.

Tied, 1-1, with El Toro, Dan Hess drew a one-out walk in the bottom of the seventh inning. His brother Mike followed with an infield hit to put Dan in scoring position. Gordon Moss singled to right and Dan Hess scored to give Corona del Mar the league title.

The two hits in the inning gave the Sea Kings only four for the game, but Jeff Pries did not allow an earned run by the Chargers as he improved his record to 5-0. Pries also gave the Sea Kings their first run by hitting a first-inning home run.

On Call: In Capistrano Valley’s first meeting with Irvine, a 5-0 Vaquero victory, Cougar star Nathan Call was at a basketball camp in Phoenix and Irvine pitcher Brian Snoddy pitched a four-hitter.

But Call was back for the second game and everyone knew it: He hit two home runs and had four runs batted in as Capistrano Valley defeated Irvine, 11-3.

The home runs were Call’s fourth and fifth in his last four games. Call also improved his batting average to .482.

South Coast League swimming titles usually make people think of Mission Viejo, but El Toro freshman Michele Perry changed that a bit.

Perry was the only double winner as El Toro won the league finals. Perry won the 100-yard freestyle in a county-best time of 52.28 seconds and also won the 200 individual medley in a time of 2:09.86. Perry also swam on the Chargers’ winning 200 medley relay team.
