The Twins and the Boy Scouts

Re Mr. Randall vs. the Boy Scouts: If you don’t accept what Boy Scouting stands for, don’t join. Just as Lord Baden Powell started his group, you too can find or develop a group that suits your needs.

Today’s Boy Scouts, just as their predecessors, stand for certain values and characteristics. To change any of these is to change what Boy Scouting and being a Boy Scout means. Having worked with the Boy Scouts for a long time, I think that would be a sad and disastrous thing.

If Mr. Randall were truly interested in his boys’ Scouting experience, and not publicity, he’d have gone with his boys and observed the meeting with respect. He wouldn’t have called 20 reporters to sensationalize the meeting. The Scoutmaster was correct in canceling the meeting in that atmosphere.

I might suggest that the boys study about God from some substantial sources before they dismiss him as a myth. I tend to reject e=mc 2because I don’t understand it. But if I studied it in some depth, perhaps I could embrace it--or dismiss it from an enlightened viewpoint.
