Petition Against Tax Circulated
We have heard that since our state and county governments are facing a budget deficit, we should be prepared for tax increases and new forms of taxation.
A major contributing cause of deficits is that workers in California are losing jobs. These unemployed people no longer pay taxes, but now receive benefits from tax funds.
Also, businesses that are based in California and could pump billions of dollars back into our economy are choosing to manufacture their products in other states that have less bureaucracy and fewer restrictions to impede the efficiency of their operations.
And yet, the Ventura County Board of Supervisors voted 4-1, with only Maria VanderKolk voting against, to implement a business license tax effective July 1.
There is a movement under way to let the Board of Supervisors know that the people of Ventura County oppose this tax being implemented without approval of the voters.
Petitions are being circulated. This is an opportunity to have a voice in government.
