SAN JUAN CAPISTRANO : San Juan Gateway Project Approved

Share

A 17-acre commercial project on the hilltop property known as the Rosan Ranch has been approved by a recent 4-0 vote of the City Council.

The project, known as the San Juan Gateway because it is located on Camino Capistrano near the southern boundary of the city, will include 12 one- and two-story buildings, two two-level parking structures and eight acres of open space. During the grading phase of the plan, Camino Capistrano will be widened from its present two lanes to four lanes.

The development, which will overlook San Juan Creek and the Doheny Village area and be built by Tustin-based Bedford Properties, is an update of another commercial venture on the site approved by the council in 1986.

“The project is a significant improvement over the previously approved project,” Councilman Jeff Vasquez said.
